Real People, Real Projects: Brandy & Jared’s Historic Farmhouse

The Project

Brandy and Jared restored this nearly 200-year-old home with 21st century upgrades. Nestled off a gravel road a few miles from metro Atlanta, this historic gem with Floor & Decor marble and brick was featured on the Magnolia Network’s “[In With the Old](https://tv.apple.com/us/episode/oldest-house-in-atlanta/umc.cmc.1kjoc5rxv9ay7hz8mj3ngvabk)” series. Under the skilled guidance of Brandy, a talented producer and casting director for home renovation TV shows, they turned their passion for interior design into a remarkable transformation.

The Home

Brandy and Jared bought the oldest home in Fulton County (Atlanta) in the hopes of finding a perfect place for Brandy’s mother to live. The home was built in 1835, and being almost 200 years old, it had no plumbing or electricity. They embarked on this project with a lot of faith in some really solid walls and amazing potential. It was a challenge Brandy and Jared were honored to take on to preserve a legacy for the city and create a new one for their own family.

The Inspiration

Since the home is historic, Brandy and Jared chose styles that preserved the home’s history while still having all the comforts of modern living. They added two bathrooms and refinished the kitchen and living spaces. [Marble](https://www.flooranddecor.com/marble-stone) was at the top of their list, so they incorporated classic [cornflower blues](https://www.flooranddecor.com/marble-decoratives/cassia-ii-mother-of-pearl-blue-celeste-marble-waterjet-mosaic-100780501.html) and [grays](https://www.flooranddecor.com/stone-decoratives/blue-forest-marble-tile-100464866.html). They also wanted to preserve some of the home’s original history, so they veneered reclaimed bricks from the property and repurposed them into backsplash. They found the perfect [brick](https://www.flooranddecor.com/brick-stone/rushmore-thin-brick-panel-100411677.html) at Floor & Decor to complement the original and outfit the pantry and laundry room.
